Asheville / Atlanta - 2026 Amp Building Class - JTM45
We are proud to offer the next circuit in our amp building seminars. This time around will be building a JTM45 amp. You can choose between a head and a 1x12 combo. We will spend a large portion of time understanding the basics of how tube amps work, the parts they are made of and techniques for building great sounding, reliable amplifiers. This is not a paint by numbers class. You will learn an incredible amount regarding everything tube amp related.
All tools and materials are included. Each attendee will have a complete workstation with soldering iron, multimeter, screwdrivers, etc. All parts to build your amp will be included.
This class is designed for those that have little to no experience building amps. Never picked up a soldering iron before? Great! We can teach you! Let us share with you the nearly 20 years of experience building world class amplifiers!
This build will not be your typical JTM45 build. We will be using top level transformers, capacitors, resistors, wire and hardware. Also, we will cover how to mod this amp to make it unique to your playing style. Each class is limited to 6. Keeping the class small will allow us to offer personal assistance to each of the attendees. This class will give you the confidence and knowledge to tackle other builds, basic amp repair and modifications.
Cost for this class are:
$2650 for the head
$2850 for the 1x12 combo
(No food, beverages, travel or lodging are included in the price. )
You can secure your spot with a non-refundable $1,000 deposit if that would help or you can pay the entire class cost upfront. (If you choose the deposit option, the remaining balance will be charged on the last Monday before your class.)
Join us January 10th and 11th in Asheville, NC or February 21st and 22nd in Atlanta for two days of hands on education. (A link for the Hampton Inn will be emailed to you which contains special rates for rooms.)
So, come spend a weekend with us learning the ins and outs of amplifier building. Make some new friends and leave with an incredible amp that you can be proud of!
See you there!

Your Fellow Artists
As musicians, we strive for connection – to our intentions, to each other and to our listeners. But to connect, we must be heard.
At Port City, we hand craft our amplifiers, cabinets and pedals to magnify your message, to honor your music and to inspire your audiences.
They are tools of expression, built to ensure you’re heard.

It's In The Details
Making a Port City Amp is like making a Swiss Watch. It takes craftsmanship. It's not a lost art, we practice it every time for every client right here outside of Asheville, N.C.
