Merino Combo

The 20-watt Merino recalls beloved tweed tones, providing a versatile platform for a wide variety of playing styles. The Merino is our modified take on an often overlooked classic design, the Harvard 5F10. This combo is cleaner at high volumes than most small tweed-style amps, yet once it reaches the threshold of overdrive, it has more drive on tap than you’d expect. With a very useful and simple set of volume and tone controls, your ideal sound can be achieved in seconds, allowing you to get back to playing music. The Merino is also a fantastic pedal platform.

Our recommended stock speaker for the Merino is the WGS G12C. If you have questions about other options or are unsure of which speaker would be best for you, please contact us with details about your setup and playing style so we can recommend the speaker that would best suit your needs.

Client testimonials

What a great sound! Very transparent but still warm. The Merino is excellent throughout the range of tones: bass present but not buzzing, balanced midrange and the highs sounds like bells but never shrill. Amazing. The pedals feel great. Very successful the WGS G12CS speaker! Thank you for your kindness.

I’ve owned my Merino for about eight months. I really love the simplicity of the controls. It has a beautiful clean tone, perfect for taking pedals. It’s perfect for low volume applications.

My Port City Merino is, without a doubt, my secret weapon. Molten glass tone and solid reliability. Due to excellence of design and incredible speaker pairing, the warm, low-mids are prevalent and really give me the best of what my vintage lap steel pickups are putting out. When paired with my Port City Sahana Drive pedal, I can go from sparkling classic country to soaring blues rock. I also use it with my Les Paul Jr. It’s the perfect working musician’s amp. I use it live and in the studio too. I’m so very happy that the tone in my head can get out through my Port City amp.
